Just arrived at HooG Selections, a real hot hatchback, a beautifully restored Renault 5 Alpine Turbo from 1985!

Renault introduced its revolutionary 5 in 1972. Despite its very compact length of 3.50 m, there was still enough space for 4 adults and their luggage. Despite the practical features mentioned above, the engine remained somewhat on the quiet side, the top engine only had a 64 hp four-cylinder engine known from the Renault 12 TS.
With the arrival of the 5 Alpine in early 1976, Renault managed to give the 5 a more than sporty look and character. A ‘hot hatch’ was created thanks to a different front bumper including high-beam headlights, 13-inch alloy wheels and special striping. Now equipped with a 93 hp engine, the Alpine was able to reach 170 km/h with ease, and it didn't stop there...

The introduction of the 5 Alpine Turbo ushered in a new era for Renault. Thanks to a turbocharger, the 5 now had 110 hp and a top speed of 185 km/h. The alpine turbo managed to complete the standard sprint of 0-100 km/h in just 9.1 seconds. Serious figures for that time and for this type of car!

This Renault 5 Alpine Turbo auctioned by HooG Selections was delivered new in the Netherlands on 11 January 1985, the first owner kept the car for almost 20 years.

In the years that followed, the Renault changed hands a number of times and was completely restored. The bodywork is completely sleek and nicely painted in the characteristic blue colour which contrasts beautifully with the 13-inch alloy wheels painted in gold. As far as we are concerned, completely finished! The beige fabric interior is in beautiful condition and has not lost any of its charm, even after 36 years.
