In 1972 Volvo introduced the latest version of the 1800 model, the ES, changing the body to a station wagon with a large glass tailgate. The ES version features an improved 1.8L engine developing 125 horsepower thanks to a lower compression ratio. The road handling of this version is improved accordingly. As a special feature of this 1800 ES model, the loading area becomes completely flat when the rear seats are folded down. Comes with its original three-speed Borg-Warner automatic transmission. The US model offered here was purchased in the Netherlands in 2015. Its owner then drove it back to France, in the Paris region, without any problems. Since its purchase, this superb Volvo has been driven very little, it has been overhauled and made reliable, has new tyres, oil and filters.
