The Iso Grifo is a limited production Grand Tourer manufactured by the Italian automaker Iso Autoveicoli S.p. A. between 1965 and 1974. Intended to compete with Grand Touring offerings by Ferrari and Maserati. A range of American powertrains and components supplied by Chevrolet and Ford were used. Styling was done by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Bertone, while mechanics were the handled by Giotto Bizzarrini.
The first production GT models appeared in 1965 and were powered by American Chevrolet small-block 327 (5.4-liter) V8 engines.
A total of 330 Series I and 83 Series II cars were built for a total of 413 cars, 90 of which were 7-litre versions. Of these Grifo GL 300 models, only 77 were produced from 1966 to 1970. Due to the small production numbers, the Grifos are a rarity and are therefore sought-after collectors' items nowadays.
The Iso Grifo on offer is a special car. It is a Series 1 GL 300 with Lusso trim. As mentioned earlier, only 330 examples of the Series 1 were produced, but even fewer with Lusso trim. This means that the Iso is equipped with full leather upholstery. Blue in this case. The body consists of a gray metallic paint. The body consists of a gray metallic paint. This is reflected in the current state of this beautiful car.
The interior is pure luxury. From the stylish wooden dashboard with no less than eight instruments and the Campagnolo magnesium rims, to the wooden Personal steering wheel. The chrome accents around the Iso provide the finishing touch.
Under the hood is a 5.4 liter Chevrolet small-block 327 V8 that produces about 300 horsepower. It is coupled to a Borg-Warner four-speed manual transmission. This engine was factory capable of reaching 110 km/h in first gear. The engine runs well and shifts smoothly.
A spare wheel can be found in the back of the relatively spacious trunk. The underside is hard and free of rust.
