GENERAL
Selling my 1976 Jaguar XJ-C 4.2 - one of the most beautiful Jaguars ever designed and allegedly one of Sir. William Lyons' personal favourites.

With only 8378 cars built, of which 6505 were 4.2 litre 6-cilinder engined and 1873 were 5.7 litre V12 engined, the XJ-C is one of the most exclusive Jaguar models.

The XJ-C was derived from the 2nd generation Jaguar XJ featuring the same chassis, which provides plenty of interior space. This makes for a spacious coupé that comfortably sits 4 persons. The pillarless concept is absolute bliss for cruising around in nice weather and even trumps a convertible experience on hot & sunny days.

The ride is smooth, distinctive and extremely comfortable with a nice growl from the potent but docile engine. As the car was in period converted from automatic to manual transmission with overdrive, driving this XJ-C also offers a nice mechanical touch to the experience.

BODY/PAINTWORK
Body and paintwork have been subject to prior restoration and are in decent condition with limited signs of age and wear. Very few dents or scratches, no visible rust, only a few areas with bubbling paint. Rubbers, windows and chrome are in decent shape, showing limited signs of age and wear. All electric windows are in working order, as can be seen on the pictures. 

TECHNICAL CONDITION
The ride is smooth, distinctive and extremely comfortable with a nice growl from the potent but docile engine. As the car was in period converted from automatic to manual transmission with overdrive, driving this XJ-C also offers a nice mechanical touch to the experience.

In order to improve reliability, the automatic choke system was replaced by a manual choke handle. Last check-up and service was done end of February 2025.

INTERIOR
Furthermore, the interior boasts luxury and is in superb condition with clean leather, carpets and door cards. The dashboard is undamaged with all controls and instruments in place and well preserved wooden veneer.

DOCUMENTS
The car comes with following paperwork: an old French 'carte grise', various invoices with respect to maintenance and repairs over the last 8 years, an expired technical inspection report and the valid Belgian registration papers.

COLLECTION
I bought the car in 2017 from a Paris-based enthusiast who acquired it few years earlier on from a German Jaguar collector, the car having been restored by this latter owner presumably somewhere between 2000 and 2010. Since present ownership, the car has been kept in a temperature and moist controlled garage and was regularly serviced by marque experts.
