Gazelle (Mercedes SSK tribute)

De 'Mercedes-Benz' Gazelle is officieel geregistreerd als een model uit 1929 en daarmee in aanmerking komend als oldtimer. De Gazelle is een eerbetoon aan de legendarische Mercedes-Benz SSK, die zijn oorsprong vond in de late jaren twintig. Deze hommage is een van de kitgebouwde replica's uit de vroege jaren '80 en '90, vervaardigd door Classic Motor Carriages in Florida, met als doel het iconische ontwerp van de Mercedes-Benz SSK toegankelijk te maken voor liefhebbers van klassieke auto's.

Deze Gazelle schittert in de traditionele creme wit en donkerbruine tinten, wat onmiddellijk de aandacht trekt. Chromen accenten, rubberen treeplanken en verchroomde spaakwielen dragen allemaal bij aan de vintage uitstraling van de auto. De lak verkeerd nog in nette staat voor de leeftijd m.u.v. enkele kleine gebruikerssporen die verwacht mogen worden bij de leeftijd.

Bij het betreden van het interieur wordt u begroet door de jaren '80-coolheid van de een stuk lederen comfortable kuipstoelen, deze verkeren nog in goede staat (m.u.v. lichte instap slijtage bij de bestuurders zijde). De auto is voorzien van retro-instrumenten en een houten stuurwiel. Achterin is er een bijpassende achterbank, ideaal voor kinderen of uw bagage. De rest van het interieur en het dashboard verkeren ook nog in nette staat met hier en daar lichte gebruikerssporen. De opvouwbare creme kleurige kap (met de gewilde zij-ruiten) is een terugblik naar 1929, maar biedt in werkelijkheid een strakke look en goede bescherming tegen het weer. 

In tegenstelling tot de meeste Mercedes SSK 1929 tribute cars, is deze auto niet gebouwd op een VW-chassis, maar op een Ford-frame. Onder de motorkap ligt een krachtige 2,3-liter Ford-motor met 89 pk, die meer dan voldoende vermogen levert voor deze lichte auto. Het resultaat is een opwindende rijervaring die de aandacht trekt en indruk maakt. 

Gebaseerd op de klassieker uit 1929, is de Gazelle een eerbetoon aan de rijken van die tijd, maar nu toegankelijk voor degenen die op zoek zijn naar een stukje geschiedenis op vier wielen. Het is een kans om te genieten van de allure van de jaren '20 zonder de zorgen van een auto van een kleine 100 jaar oud. De Gazelle biedt een betaalbare en plezierige manier om de charme van een vervlogen tijdperk te omarmen.
