Volvo Amazon B20 Overdrive – 1969.

Er zijn van die auto’s die ons direct een glimlach bezorgen zodra we ze zien staan. Dit is zo’n auto. Een prachtige Volvo Amazon uit 1969, uitgevoerd met de krachtige B20-motor én voorzien van overdrive. Precies zoals u hem wilt hebben als u op zoek bent naar een klassieke Volvo waarmee u dagelijks de weg op kunt (als u dat zou willen).

Deze Amazon heeft bijna twintig jaar lang deel uitgemaakt van de collectie van een liefhebber in Nederland, nadat hij in 2002 rechtstreeks uit Zweden werd geïmporteerd. En dat zien we aan alles terug. 

Originaliteit stond voorop bij het behoud van deze auto. Geen overgerestaureerd museumstuk, maar een eerlijke, zeer goed verzorgde auto met een carrosserie die zeer gaaf en origineel is.

Wat deze Amazon extra leuk maakt, zijn de subtiele maar smaakvolle extra’s. Zo is de auto voorzien van een Simons sportuitlaat, wat zorgt voor nét dat beetje extra geluid uit de karaktervolle viercilinder. Verder heeft hij een gangster-cap boven de voorruit, wat hem optisch net wat stoerder maakt, en koplamp-wenkbrauwen voor die klassieke Scandinavische uitstraling.

De lak? Die is keurig. De kleurstelling in het blauw oogt tijdloos en stijlvol. De chromen onderdelen zijn netjes en het interieur is, zoals u mag verwachten van een gekoesterde Amazon, in mooie staat. Geen overmatige sporen van slijtage, maar wel een interieur waarin u voelt dat er met liefde en zorg in gereden is.

En dan het rijden zelf. Wat is dat toch een feest. Dankzij de Overdrive schakelt deze Amazon heerlijk soepel en is ook langere ritten op de snelweg prima te doen. De motor pakt goed op, de wegligging is verrassend stabiel en de remmen voelen betrouwbaar aan. 

De Volvo Amazon staat bekend om zijn veiligheid, betrouwbaarheid en onverwoestbare techniek. Dit exemplaar is daar het levende bewijs van. 
Daarmee is deze Volvo een bijzonder eerlijke, originele en zeer goed rijdende Amazon, met nét dat beetje extra karakter door de fijne accessoires. Een auto voor de liefhebber die niet alleen wil kijken, maar vooral ook wil rijden.
