1) The Hobbit Third edition  (1966) - Hardcover 


Published by George Allen & Unwin Ltd.. Third edition, 7th impression (1975), 20th impression overall (since the 1st impression of this edition -11th impression 1966- does not exist (TolkienBooks.net - The Hobbit. 1966). 317 pages. ISBN: 0048230693.

At the time (1966) a new hardback cloth edition of this book, re-set with eight black and white illustrations and five colour illustrations, re-originated from J.R.R. Tolkien's artwork and illustrated with Thror’s Map and the Map of Wilderland on the endpapers.

Condition: 

- Book is in very good condition. Solid binding. Bright green covers. There are no markings or annotations. Edges and pages are clean.

- Unclipped dust jacket, in fairly good condition (dust jackets of this edition were made of thin regular paper which rarely remains intact over time, rather than the plasticized paper used later). Please note some rubbing to edges and a minor cut on front upper left which is hard to see on the exterior).

2) The Hobbit  3rd edition (1966) - Paperback 

Published by George Allen & Unwin Ltd. Third edition, 20th impression (1975). 279 pages. ISBN 048230707.

The front cover (and part of the back cover) is illustrated with an early sketch by JRR Tolkien of Smaug being struck by an arrow fired by Bard the Bowman over burning Lake-town. Inside there are Thror's Map and the Map of Wilderland on the first and last pages. 

Condition: Book is in very good condition. Solid binding. Covers are intact (please note two minor diagonal creasing lines on the back cover).No creasing on spine. Corners hold reasonably well. There are no inscriptions or annotations. Edges and pages are clean.
