A very fine old 4/4 violin, labeled "Giovanni Pistucci Napoli 1904". This instrument is in good condition with no cracks, new ebony set up, new bridge and new strings. The violin shows a very careful selection of wood in the making. The violin has an excellent straight medium grained spruce of the top and two pieces back of softly flamed maple. Narrow flamed sides and scroll. Rich golden amber varnish shows an amazing wooden choice. Inlaid purfling on top and back. The whole length of the violin is 588 mm and the back 358 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 165 mm; middle bouts: 112 mm; lower bouts: 208 mm. Full size. The sound is very good, deep, rich, powerful, suitable for soloist.
