CONTENTS
Elegant edition of this lucky love hunt in octaves. In seven cantos. Illustrates the memory of the Fregoso (ca. 1460-1530) given to us by Ariosto in the edition of the Furioso of 1532 (canto XLVI). Brunet II, 1388; Sander I, 2926; Essling 2926.
«Poem in seven cantos for a total of 505 octaves, with two poems in triplets after the end. In it the author allegorically recalls a love adventure of his youth, with a precise description of various hunting episodes »(Ceresoli). It tells of an imaginary hunt for Mirina, Diana's nymph turned into a doe, with which the author goes to the city of Erotopoli to retrieve his dogs which, at the end of the poem, will be returned to him by Adonis.
Fregoso was a talented poet of Genoese origin (born around 1460 and died after 1532), author of burlesque sonnets and allegorical poems of considerable fame; he lived mostly in Milan, first at the court of Ludovico il Moro and then in a country villa, in perfect solitude (hence the stage name '' Fileremo ''). Very fresh and beautiful specimen.
