Lovely 1964 220 SEb Cabriolet in good overall condition.

This car was originally sold in the German market, and has remained there until recently, when it was imported to Spain. It has had only three owners since new.

The body and paintwork have been restored in Germany, but the rest of the vehicle is in original condition. As can be seen in the photos, the upholstery shows obvious signs of wear and tear over time.

Mechanically it is all up to date and working properly. The vehicle is roadworthy. If required by the buyer, it can be delivered with a valid MOT. It has recently been TUV inspected in Germany on 03/22/2023. Photographs of the full report are attached.

Mercedes-Benz presented four new models at the 1959 Frankfurt Motor Show, including the 220 SEb, all of which shared the same body. The new 220 SEb retained the single overhead camshaft engine with fuel injection from the previous 220 SE, although the maximum output of the 2195 cc six was increased by five horsepower to 120bhp (DIN). Top speed was now 170 km/h with 100 km/h achievable in less than 14 seconds. Coupé and Cabriolet models appeared in 1960 and 1961 respectively. 

More modern in style, the luxurious 220 SEb Coupé and Cabriolet were also better equipped, featuring a revolution counter, leather upholstery and a four-speed automatic transmission with floor-mounted gear lever as standard. Front disc brakes were fitted from the start of production, an advantage not enjoyed by the 220 SEb saloon until 1962. When production ceased in October 1965, fewer than 17,000 220 SEb Coupé and Cabriolet models had been produced.
