Range Rover V8 3.5 Convertible by SVC (1976)

VEHICLE HISTORY
Back in 1983 the Range Rover Evoque Convertible was still decades away, but that didn’t stop James Bond from piloting a soft top Range Rover in Octopussy. SVC in Sussex, England saw an opportunity and began cutting the roofs off classic Range Rovers in the 1980s to fill demand. The conversion is a rare sight and it will catch people’s attention wherever it goes. 

This unit was originally registered in Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain) back in 1976, and very probably it was sent back to the UK to be converted by Special Vehicle Conversions (SVC) in the 1980s. In the old Spanish documents appears a note about "change of characteristics in 1984".

The vehicle has spent most of its life in the quiet roads of the Canary Islands, probably without much kilometres done among the years. It was recently imported to peninsular Spain, where the current owner has undergone a total frame off restoration recently finished. 

MECHANICS
Everything was dismantled, checked and remade in a "nut and bolt" way. Many new parts were fitted were needed, as can be seen in the photos. The engine is a powerful 3.5 V8 which has been fitted with a special set carburettor-intake from the American make Edelbrock, which gives some extra horsepower. 

BODYWORK
Has suffered also a complete restoration and it is in very good overall condition, but some minor defects can be seen in a close inspection. Please check the photographs. Many brand new parts have been used.

INTERIOR
Also totally remade in the recent restoration. New upholstery made in high quality brown leather, beautiful and comfortable. Needs some finishing touches. In the plastic dashboard there are minor defects, please see the photos. In the trunk there is a special purpose-made set of cases, probably made together with the SVC Cabrio conversion, as are old and have been restored.
