Een masterpiece, zo kunnen we in één woord deze mooie en zeldzame Bitter Diplomat CD omschrijven. Gesigneerd in 2020 door Erich Bitter (1933-2023) zelf en voorzien van historie vanaf nieuw tot op heden inclusief alle instructieboekjes en de Duitse fahrzeugbrief. Voorzien van een APK geldig tot 27 juli 2025 met complimenten van de keurmeester.

Even eerst in het kort het ontstaan van deze Grand Turismo:

Erich Bitter reed in zijn jonge jaren als wielrenner 4x de Tour de France voordat hij autocoureur werd in de jaren 60. Daarna was hij importeur voor Duitsland van het sportautomerk Abarth. Begin jaren 70 begon hij zijn eigen sportwagenmerk te ontwikkelen en kreeg hulp van de Italiaanse carrosserie ontwerper Frua. De Italiaanse ontwerpers waren natuurlijk de grote meesters die van een carrosserie een waar kunstwerk konden maken. De firma Bauer verzorgde de degelijke Duitse constructie.

Het uiteindelijke resultaat werd onthult in 1973 op de Internationale autoshow van Frankfurt. Het model werd bijzonder goed ontvangen door de pers en het publiek ondanks dat hij 2x zo duur was als een Porsche 911 en zelfs duurder dan een Rolls-Royce in die tijd. Niet verwonderlijk want de met de hand gebouwde Bitter had zijn inspiratie gehaald uit de Maserati Ghibli, de Ferrari Daytona, de Lamborghini Espada en de de Tomaso Mangusta. Stuk voor stuk bijzonder indrukwekkende auto's.

Uitsluitend dus een auto bestemd voor de happy few. Onder andere zanger Heino kocht er een en een aantal spelers van voetbalclub Bayern München. Door de oliecrisis in de jaren 70 zijn er totaal maar 395 exemplaren gebouwd tussen 1973 en 1979. 

Het hier aangeboden exemplaar is een van de 37 stuks die in het laatste bouwjaar 1979 geleverd werden en betreft chassisnummer 351. De levering vond plaats op 17 januari 1979 aan de eerste Duitse gelukkige eigenaar. In 1994 is de Bitter op Nederlands kenteken gekomen en heeft 29 jaar dezelfde eigenaar gehad.

Dan de beschrijving van de hier aangeboden auto:

Een exemplaar waar je blij van wordt. Een mooi contrast is natuurlijk de glanzend blauwe lak met de witte two-tone bekleding. De lak is in mooie conditie. Een groot dashboard met houtmotief en alle bekleding is nog origineel vanaf de fabriek. Het schuimrubber van de stoelen is wel vernieuwd om doorzitten te voorkomen.

Het rijden:

Ga zitten achter het stuur en start de matching 5,4 liter V8 van GM. Die start direct en loopt zeer mooi. Zet de automaat in stand "drive" en het geheel komt in beweging.  Even rustig warm rijden en na verloop wat sneller. Overschakelen doet hij haast ongemerkt. Ook heden ten dagen is hij nog best snel met zijn 230 pk, maar hij is nadrukkelijk ontworpen als Grand Turismo, dus gemaakt om comfortabel lange afstanden te overbruggen en weer fris uit te stappen op de eindbestemming. Het onderstel is uitgevoerd met een De Dion cardan en onafhankelijke wielophanging. De rondom geventileerde remschrijven zorgen er voor dat het geheel weer veilig tot stilstand komt.

Dan het belangrijke onderhoud en de historie van de Bitter CD.

Iedere échte liefhebber stelt prijs op een duidelijke historie, en terecht. Het begint met een kopie van de bestelling in oktober 1978 waar de opties doorgegeven werden. Op  17 januari 1979 is de auto afgeleverd aan de eerste trotse eigenaar in Duitsland . In 1994 is de Bitter dus op Nederlands kenteken gezet. De eigenaar heeft er jaren mee gereden en is op een gegeven moment als decoratie in de garage blijven staan. Enkele jaren geleden is hij weer tevoorschijn gehaald  en heeft de eigenaar die de auto inmiddels 29 jaar in bezit had hem voor een groot deel laten restaureren. Er is gelukkig veel documentatie bewaard gebleven bij deze auto.

De totale kosten aan onderdelen en revisie bedragen ongeveer €28000,-. Alles is terug te vinden in de originele facturen. Daarna heeft de eigenaar er 2800 kilometer mee gereden. Op 19-10-2022 is de auto getaxeerd door een expert van Classic Analystics taxaties. De totale revisie was toen nog niet geheel af en de vervangingswaarde werd al vastgesteld op €74.600,-. Daarna is de auto geheel afgemonteerd.

Analytische conditie omschrijving van de taxateur: 

Een zeer goed voertuig in conditie 2. Alleen de ventilator van de verwarming doet het op dit moment niet. De Bitter is in een originele staat of uitgebreid gereviseerd met hooguit lichte gebruikerssporen, is technisch in orde, roestvrij en direct rijklaar. De chromen delen zijn in goede staat. Nette correcte passingen bij deuren, motorkap en achterklep. 2 complete sleutelsets, een geldige APK tot juli 2025. Kortom: een betrouwbare auto voor direct gebruik.

Wij zorgen voor de buitenlandse koper gratis het juiste exportdocument, zodat u de auto snel op het door u gewenste kenteken krijgt. Ook willen wij u mee helpen zoeken voor vervoer indien nodig. De auto kan bezichtigd worden in Heerhugowaard en er kan natuurlijk een proefrit gemaakt worden.
