Deze Mercedes-Benz 500 SLC uit 1981 is een van de 1100 zeldzame en in zeer goede staat verkerende schoonheid. 

De korte geproduceerde en laatste uitvoering van de SL/SLC serie, welke zich heeft gevestigd als welbekende Mercedes auto's, staat bekend om het strakke mooie ontwerp gecombineerd met zijn rally-karakter. 


Als er goed gezocht wordt is de lak niet meer puntgaaf, er zitten wat putjes en kleine krasjes op. Die vallen op het eerste gezicht niet op, deze niet-originele laklaag zit er goed op. De carrosserie zelf is roestvrij, de bodem is voorzien van een coating. 

Technisch is de auto in zeer goede staat, hij start en rijdt en remt goed. Het enige wat je hoort tijdens het rijden is het brommen van de krachtige V8. Geen getik, geen aanlopende delen en geen geluiden die er neit horen. De automatische 4-traps schakelbak gaat soepel naar de volgende versnelling. Om hem op kenteken te zetten is hij door de RDW grondig nagelopen, op advies is de stuurinrichting vervangen. De uitlaat is er af geweest om te controleren of de motor zuiver loopt, de tank is leeg geweest om te controleren op roest, de remmen zijn gedemonteerd om te controleren op defecten en de bougies zijn vervangen. 

De reflectoren van de koplampen zijn vervangen, de accu en de dynamo zijn vervangen, het ruitje bij de bestuurderskant is opnieuw vastgezet in zijn mechaniek en hij is grondig schoongemaakt en gedetailleerd. 

Het originele blauwe interieur is vlekvrij en in zeer goede staat. Zo zijn de vloermatten en de kofferbak bekleding vrij van slijtage, afgezien van de vloermat van de bestuurder. Het klassieke middenpaneel met houten elementen heeft betere dagen gekend, de lak laat om de randen wat los. Dit zou je kunnen vervangen, maar het geeft wel karakter aan de auto. Zoals grijze haren dat bij een jong volwassenen dat doen. 

Bij de auto zitten de facturen van de onderdelen die recent zijn gemonteerd. Ook zit er een bewijs van echtheid bij, afgegeven door Mercedes zelf, en het importpapier. Helaas is er van zijn tijd buiten Europa geen informatie bekend. Hij is via Duitsland in Belgie terechtgekomen, waar hij 10 jaar heeft stilgestaan in een showroom. Uiteindelijk heeft hij in Nederland de liefde en aandacht gekregen die hij verdient, om vervolgens een fijn tweede leven te kunnen krijgen bij de volgende eigenaar. Helaas dus wel met een modern kenteken, al heeft deze wel een heel typische nummercombinatie..
