ÜBERBLICK/ZUSTAND
Dieses weiße Mercedes 220 S Cabrio wurde am 26. April 1957 an seinen Erstbesitzer in Bad Godesberg, Deutschland, ausgeliefert. Das Fahrzeug hat "matching numbers" und hat eine interessante Historie:

Ein Schreiben vom 15. März 1983 der DST GmbH an einen Mr. Dunburry mit Adresse in Saudi Arabien belegt die Fertigstellung einer kompletten Restauration der Karosserie, mit einer Fotodokumentaion die heute noch vorliegt. 

Die Spaltmasse (siehe Fotos) der Türen, Motorhaube und Kofferaum belegen die hohe Qualität der damaligen Restauration. Das Fahrzeug hat aber vermutlich Deutschland erst im Jahr 1984 Richtung USA verlassen, gemäß vorliegendem Internationalen Fahrzeugschein mit der Zieladresse Mr. Dunburry in Missouri, USA.

Im Januar 2020 wurde das 220 S Cabrio von einem niederländischen Autohändler bei "Cars Remember When Auto Sales" in Santa Fe gekauft und am im April 2020 in Amsterdam in Empfang genommen. Im September 2020 wurde das Fahrzeug vom derzeitigen Besitzer beim niederländischen Autohändler gekauft und nach München überführt. 

Im April 2021 wurde ein technisches Gutachten zur Erlangung einer Einzelbetriebserlaubnis erstellt und das Fahrzeug im Mai 2021 mit einem H-Kennzeichen zugelassen. Der Kilometerstand wurde mit 64530 km ausgewiesen. Aktuell ist der Km-Stand laut Tachoanzeige 65898 km. 

Nach dem Reimport aus den USA/Niederlande, wurde die Fahrzeugtechnik in einer deutschen Fachwerkstatt für Ponton Fahrzeuge im April 2021 und Juni 2023 in einen Top Zustand gebracht. Belege über 19.653 Euro sind dafür vorhanden. Dieser 6-Zylinder Motor läßt sich auch bei Stau im 2-Gang ohne Kupplungsaktion stotterfrei fahren und die Laufruhe ist beeindruckend. Der TÜV ist bis 08/2025 gültig. 

Das Fahrzeug hat selbstverständlich Matching-Numbers . Diese sind über die Original Schilder nachgewiesen. 

Es sind einige historische Dokumente - wie das Original-Datenblatt und Original-Prospekte - zum Fahrzeug vorhanden. Auch sind die Betriebsanleitung und die zwei sehr umfangreichen Wersktatthandbücher vorhanden. Zusätzlich werden Fachbücher und Literatur speziell für diesen Fahrzeugtyp mitverkauft. Im Jahr 1957 wurden nur rund 1.100 Exemplare dieses Modells gebaut.

Dieses klassische Fahrzeug befindet sich in Privatbesitz und weist eine absolute Alltagstauglichkeit auf, was für Oldtimer nicht selbstverständlich ist. Es ist fahrbereit und kann somit für den Alltag oder für Ausflüge zuverlässig genutzt werden. Insgesamt ist es in einem gutem Zustand, hat aber einige Gebrauchsspuren.
