Gerestaureerde Austin-Healey MkIIA Convertible met overdrive uit 1963

De iconische Austin Healey 3000 is één van de populairste Engelse sportauto's. Ongeveer 90% werd nieuw verkocht in het noorden van de Verenigde Staten. Dit exemplaar betreft de meest begeerde uitvoering: een MkIIA 2 + 2 met neerdraaibare zijruiten, eenvoudig te bedienen kap, én prachtig klassieke dashboard (in tegenstelling tot de MkIII met moderner dashboard). De softtop verkeert, net als de rest van de auto, in mooie staat. Nadat de auto in de Verenigde Staten heeft gereden is hij in de afgelopen jaren volledig gerestaureerd in Nederland en vervolgens geregistreerd op Nederlands kenteken in 2021.

De auto verkeert hierdoor in mooie staat. De motor is vervangen door een gelijkwaardige exemplaar: dit motorblok met 2 carburateurs is een kunstwerk om te zien. Het interieur met fraai rood lederen bekleding is voorzien van een kachel en massaschakelaar. De uitvoering is prachtig met chromen spaakwielen en de two-tone kleurcombinatie van zwart op rood waardoor het fraaie lijnenspel van de auto perfect tot zijn recht komt. Deze sierlijke kleurcombinatie is ook vaak te zien op klassieke Bugatti's. Het is een genot om met de auto te rijden: het diepe geluid van de krachtige 6-cilinder motor, de fijne versnellingsbak met optionele overdrive, krachtige remmen (voor die tijd geavanceerde schrijfremmen aan de voorzijde) en een laag zwaartepunt wat zorgt voor een ultieme bochtenervaring. Kortom: ongeëvenaarde puurheid van een iconische Engelse roadster uit de jaren 60 die klaar staat voor de nieuwe eigenaar.

De Healey is recent gerestaureerd en de motor is gereviseerd. De motor heeft momenteel nog een hoge carterdruk en moet nog ingereden worden. Na circa 1000km moeten de vloeistoffen ververst worden en technisch volledig nagelopen worden.
Er zijn verder nog kleine werkzaamheden vereist zoals drukknopjes monteren voor de afdekhoes etc.


Algemene informatie over de Austin-Healey 3000 
De Austin-Healey 3000 kwam in 1959 op de markt en werd geproduceerd tot en met 1967. De 3000 was de opvolger van de 100-6. Dit voorgaande model had een een motor met minder cilinderinhoud (2.6 liter) en minder pk’s ten opzichte van de 3000 die voorzien is van een 3-liter motor met 130 pk. Austin Healey's waren destijds zeer succesvol op races en rally's. Een voorbeeld hiervan is BMC team rijder Pat Moss, de zus van sir Stirling Moss. Zij behaalde een 4e plaats in de Rally van Luik-Rome-Luik in België in een Austin-Healey 100/6 en won de eerste van haar vijf Europese Rallykampioenschappen voor dames. In 1960 behaalde Moss de algemene overwinning in Luik-Rome-Luik in een Austin-Healey 3000 en eindigde ze 2de in de Coupe des Alpes. De MkII kreeg in 1962 een facelift met de MkIIA. Deze auto heeft neerdraaibare zijruiten en een eenvoudig bedienbaar dak. Het is hierdoor de meeste geliefde uitvoering van de 'Big Healey's' en er zijn 6.113 exemplaren gebouwd.

De auto kan bezichtigd en eventueel opgehaald worden in Oldemarkt, Nederland.
