STORIA / PANORAMICA
The Maserati Biturbo 2.24V represents one of the most refined and high-performing evolutions of the famous Biturbo family. Powered by the brilliant four-valve per cylinder, twin-turbo V6 engine, it combines top-level performance, mechanical refinement and the exclusive character that made the Trident sports cars famous in the late Eighties.
Produced in just 1,147 units, it is today considered one of the rarest and most desirable versions of the series, particularly appreciated by collectors for its balance between performance, elegance and limited production.
The car offered at auction is presented in the classic and elegant configuration with Rosso Maserati bodywork and refined two-tone leather and Alcantara interior, preserving the original birth colors for both exterior and cabin. The car is ASI registered and comes with complete maintenance-related documentation.
EXTERIOR
The bodywork preserves the correct factory Rosso Maserati color and presents as solid, well-aligned and in good overall condition, with only minor signs compatible with normal use. The paint has been fully restored in the past while maintaining the correct original shade and still shows a beautiful gloss today. Recently a professional polishing and detailing treatment was carried out to further enhance the car’s presentation.
Ultrasound/feeler gauge checks showed no evidence of accidents or significant structural repairs.
The underbody is original, solid and well-preserved and suitable for road use.
INTERIOR
The interior preserves the sought-after original two-tone leather and Alcantara configuration, a hallmark of the sportier versions of the Biturbo range. The cabin is in very good condition with minimal signs consistent with the car’s age, overall very pleasing and fully usable.
The dash with the elegant burl inserts retains all original instrumentation and features automatic climate control, an important onboard option of the era contributing to driving comfort.
Recently a thorough sanitization of the entire cabin was carried out.
MECCANICA
The car is perfectly running. The twin-turbo V6 engine starts promptly, runs smoothly and is fully usable, as are the gearbox, clutch and transmission, which operate correctly.
One of the most important aspects of this example is the complete engine rebuild performed in 2022, an intervention documented by the accompanying auction documentation and carried out by Officina Mariotti.
The latest technical inspection, passed in September 2025 with validity until September 2027, showed no defects, confirming the car’s roadworthiness.
As with any collectible sports car, before undertaking long trips it is advisable to perform a light preventive check.
A rare Maserati Biturbo 2.24V, produced in only 1,147 units, offered in its elegant original Rosso Maserati configuration with leather and Alcantara interior, engine fully rebuilt and complete maintenance documentation. A highly collectible example that represents one of the peak expressions of the Biturbo family’s technical evolution.

Disclaimer
Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
