Stap binnen in een tijdperk van Britse luxe en verfijning met onze uitzonderlijke 1966 Aston Martin DB6 Sport Saloon. Deze zeldzame vondst belichaamt de ultieme belichaming van de legendarische DB-serie, een tijdloos symbool van vakmanschap, stijl en prestaties. Laat u betoveren door zijn charme terwijl we u meenemen op een reis door de geschiedenis van deze prachtige auto.

In 1947 verwierf David Brown Aston Martin, en zijn ontwerpen zijn verantwoordelijk voor het succes van het bedrijf na de oorlog. In 1957 lanceerde hij de "DB" -serie, die superieure wegligging en kracht bood ten opzichte van de meeste concurrenten, en wordt erkend als een van de meest vernuftige ontwerpen van zijn tijdperk. De "supperleggera" -tag, wat superlicht betekent, werd deels afgeleid van de aluminium carrosseriepanelen van de DB4.

Tussen 1965 en 1970 werden slechts 1.504 exemplaren van de DB6 gemaakt. Ze belichamen de piek van David Browns betoverende expressie van de ultieme "gentleman's touring" auto. Het ontwerp was een ontwikkeling en volwassenwording van ideeën uit de DB4GT en DB5, waarbij een verlengd chassis werd gebruikt om meer ruimte te bieden aan achterpassagiers. In plaats van de afgeronde achterkant van de DB5, introduceerde de DB6 een geïntegreerde achterspoiler, de Kamm tail.

De Aston Martins werden vakkundig met de hand gebouwd door ambachtslieden, elke auto kostte hen ongeveer 2900 uur om te bouwen, vandaar het kleine aantal geproduceerde auto's. De DB6 was het summum van de DB-serie, een fusie van stijl en prestaties die het tijdperk belichaamt. Met de alchemie van een lichtgewicht carrosserie, formidabele motor, stoere houding en optimale wegligging was het een zeer geëvolueerde uitdrukking van Aston Martin's trotse racetraditie en een van de ultieme sportwagens van zijn tijdperk.

Deze 1966 Aston Martin DB6 Sport Saloon is een goed uitgerust fabrieksvoorbeeld met links stuur en bijpassende nummers, voorzien van een automatische transmissie. Afkomstig van de fabriek in Silver Birch over donkerblauwe Connolly-huiden. Volgens kopieën van de fabrieksdocumenten werd deze DB6 in februari 1966 nieuw gekocht door Larry Wirth uit Kingston, Jamaica.

Larry Wirth, een kunstverzamelaar en patroon, had destijds zijn collectie, die een van de pijlers zou worden van de National Gallery of Jamaica, al in gedachten. Maar in 1966 was Wirth gefocust op zijn nieuwe DB6. Opties omvatten onder meer Normalair Air Conditioning-motorventilatiesysteem, verchroomde wielen, verwarmde achterruit, Fiam-hoorns met omschakelschakelaar, Bosch Kohn TR-radio, elektrisch bediende antenne, 3-oor knock-offs, dubbele Britax driepuntsgordels, Marchal-rijverlichting en 12 pints antivries. De Aston werd op 26 februari 1966 afgeleverd. Het is niet gedocumenteerd hoelang Wirth de Aston zou behouden, maar de fabrieksgegevens lijken aan te geven dat hij deze in ieder geval tot juni 1971 had.

Tegen 2006 was de Aston in Californië in de collectie van David Segura in Valencia. De vorige eigenaar verwierf de auto in 2010 en de afgelopen 13 jaar zijn er slechts een handvol mijlen toegevoegd, wat aangeeft dat de auto grotendeels statisch is tentoongesteld. 

Deze Aston Martin is verder voorzien van een Nederlands kenteken en nieuwe APK keuring (zonder vervaldatum door de respectabele leeftijd van 58 jaar) zodat er zorgeloos van deze auto genoten kan worden deze aankomende zomer.
