"Al meer dan 56 jaar zit ik achter het stuur in de racerij. En als ik het karten meereken zelfs ruim 60 jaar met rubber op het asfalt. In die tijd heb ik meer dan 1800 starts gemaakt en ruim 1050 raceweekenden gereden. Van trapauto tot Formule 1, en eigenlijk alles wat daar tussenin zit.

En nog steeds stap ik met plezier in een raceauto, dit jaar zelfs weer in de NASCAR Euro Series.

Naast het racen ontstond er in de loop der jaren nog een andere passie: het verzamelen van klassieke auto’s. Auto’s waar een verhaal in zit. Veel van deze wagens komen uit de jaren ’50 en ’60, een periode waarin ik zelf ook reed of nauw bij betrokken was. Het zijn auto’s die herinneringen oproepen aan circuits, aan tijdperken en aan een andere manier van racen.

Mijn interesse ging nooit alleen naar de bekende of exclusieve modellen. Juist de variatie vind ik mooi. Van een eenvoudige koetsauto tot Jaguars en allerlei andere merken, ieder met zijn eigen karakter en geschiedenis.

Veel van deze auto’s heb ik al 30 tot zelfs 40 jaar in mijn bezit. Ze zijn onderdeel geworden van mijn leven en mijn verhaal. Daarom kost het me ook moeite om er afstand van te doen.

Maar aan alles komt een moment waarop je het stokje doorgeeft. En wat klassieke auto’s zo bijzonder maakt is dat ze niet alleen plezier en historie bieden maar ook onvergetelijke momenten brengen.

Ik hoop dat de volgende eigenaren er net zoveel plezier, waardering en passie voor zullen hebben als ik al die jaren heb gehad."

Historie en Achtergrond: De Jaguar MK II

De Jaguar MK II is zonder twijfel een van de meest herkenbare en geliefde sportsedans uit de geschiedenis. Geïntroduceerd als een snelle, elegante en luxueuze auto, werd hij in de jaren zestig de favoriet van zowel zakenlieden als coureurs—en zelfs van de Britse politie en de onderwereld vanwege zijn ongeëvenaarde snelheid en wegligging. Met zijn vloeiende lijnen, overvloed aan chroom en het weelderige interieur vol hout en leder, belichaamt de MK II de essentie van de Britse "Grace, Space and Pace". Dit exemplaar uit 1964 stamt uit de hoogtijdagen van de productie en biedt de perfecte balans tussen klassieke klasse en krachtige prestaties. Het feit dat deze Jaguar zonder reserveprijs wordt aangeboden, maakt het een buitenkans voor de fijnproever.

ALGEMEEN

Dit voertuig bevindt zich in een zeer goede algehele conditie. De auto is 2500 km geleden, eind jaren 90, gerestaureerd en nog in zeer mooi conditie.De auto vertoont slechts minimale tekenen van gebruik en is over de gehele linie uitstekend geconserveerd. Het is een representatief exemplaar dat direct indruk maakt door zijn verzorgde en authentieke uitstraling.

CARROSSERIE & LAKWERK

De carrosserie en het lakwerk verkeren in een zeer goede conditie met een prachtige diepe glans. Er zijn slechts minimale gebruikssporen aanwezig, zoals lichte steenslag of kleine krasjes die passen bij een liefhebbersauto. Het chroomwerk en de prachtige spaakwielen zijn nog in zeer mooie conditie. De passingen van de carrosseriedelen zijn zeer netjes.

TECHNIEK

De techniek van deze Jaguar is zeer goed en de auto is mechanisch kerngezond. De krachtige krachtbron loopt soepel en de aandrijflijn functioneert zoals men van een kwaliteitsauto mag verwachten. De Mk II is voorzien van achteraf aangebrachte stuurbekrachtiging.

INTERIEUR:

Het interieur bevindt zich in een zeer prachtige en schone conditie. Het rijke interieur ademt de luxe sfeer van de jaren zestig en vertoont nauwelijks slijtage. Het houtwerk is in uitzonderlijk mooie conditie met een prachtige warmte en glans. De algehele staat van de bekleding en het dashboard is van een hoog niveau.

CHASSIS & ONDERZIJDE

De structurele basis van het frame en de carrosserie is zeer goed geconserveerd en verkeert in een gezonde staat. De onderzijde vertoont slechts lichte sporen van gebruik, wat getuigt van een goed bewaard gebleven voertuig dat de tand des tijds uitstekend heeft doorstaan. De integriteit van het chassis is hiermee volledig gewaarborgd.
